Minutes of the first 2004 official holiday
meeting
12.45 p.m. 20th November 2003, room 16
Those present: Steve ('voted' chairman), Ed
(official door closer), Nick (minute taker), Dave, James, Deepan, Jonny, and
Matt who was way late.
Those absent: Mark, for he stinketh, and J-P who
apologises profusely for going to Sevenoaks.
Order of Business
 |
James farted. Considering he didn't even bother coming last
year this was a bad start for his involvement. |
 |
The chairman asked 'Where shall we go?'. Ed nominated Spain,
Deepan nominated Portugal, seconded by Dave. |
 |
Deepan insisted that any mention of Ireland would result in
expulsion. Ed said Hawaii. |
 |
Dave re-iterated the point of 'Where?' |
 |
The chairman got around to answering his own question and
suggested England, seconded by Jonny, thirded by Nick. The chairman, in
order to complicate matters, made another suggestion of racing to
Liechtenstein. James was enthusiastic and mentioned the Gumball rally. The
idea of a road trip won the majority vote; 5 for and 3 against, although it
was later ruled out as being too expensive (although no-one knew how much it
would cost). |
 |
Deepan pleaded the case for Spain, quoting a cost of £66
return flights excluding tax. There was a general consensus of being
impressed with Deepan's advanced planning. |
 |
The chairman, in an attempt to complicate matters even
further, suggested Italy. Deepan rebuked him because it would be too
expensive. |
 |
Ed, in a desperate attempt to replicate his lost Hawaiian
dreams, asked for a water park, or Centre Parcs. It was pointed out that
Centre Parcs need someone over 18 to be in the group. |
 |
The chairman made his fourth suggestion of the meeting,
namely a return visit to Cornwall. He said it SERIOUSLY. Nick seconded.
There was much argument, some for, some against, some wanting lunch. The
chairman's dulcet tones were heard to mention that an overseas trip would
prove too complicated, since apparently passports are very difficult things
to understand. Nick, in what seems to be an allegiance-forming mood,
seconded the proposal. |
 |
There was yet another unanimous vote against girls. |
 |
Three of the party were against returning to Cornwall. They
were Dave, Ed and Deepan. |
 |
The handwritten minutes say that 'Dave was about to
explode'. |
 |
A vote was taken, awarding 2 points for a first choice and 1
point for a second. The votes were as follows: |
| Spain |
Portugal |
Cornwall |
Elsewhere in England |
Italy |
| 1 |
5 |
11 |
2 |
4 |
 |
Cornwall was decided upon, although there were murmurs of
discontent, bribery, treachery, backstabbing and lunch. |
 |
Dave pointed out that we were missing Mark and J-P as well
as potential candidate Iain McSmith. |
 |
James, led by Jonny, started 'skiing'. |
Items to address at the next meeting
 |
Travel was decided upon as train or own cars. The coach was
flamed. The chairman was put in charge. |
 |
Accommodation: Youth Hostel (Dave) vs. Holiday home (Deepan) |
 |
Where exactly in Cornwall shall we go? |
Date on next meeting - Thursday 27th November,

Meeting adjourned at 13.08 in favour of lunch.
