Since the formation of Hollycroft Associates at the beginning of 2001, we have helped companies to win and then to execute contracts with the European Space Agency (ESA) on eleven separate occasions. These range from a point of sale TV channel through to maritime broadband internet access, and has been a source of equity-free funding for the start-up of a number of these companies. Six of these contracts have already been completed and five are on-going as at July 2007.

The amounts of financial support vary depending on the scope of the project, but the smallest we've assisted with was a €150,000 contract and the largest a €1.3 million contract. Proposal writing is not straightforward, and the document set usually runs to about 100 pages. However, the cost of the paperwork in writing the proposal and in execution of the contract is tiny compared to the usual cost in equity extracted by venture capitalists for equivalent sums. |
